Why Makerspaces?

Makerspaces contribute to our local and statewide economy and workforce.

Makerspaces support and serve creative entrepreneurs and emerging and small businesses that foster innovation in our communities and contribute to our local and statewide economy.

Makerspaces provide resources to facilitate the productivity of New Hampshire’s small businesses and artists.

Makerspaces inform, educate, and train the Granite State’s talent pipeline.

Makerspaces work with local and statewide partners to provide business development resources and coaching for small businesses.

Makerspaces encourage community and sharing, inviting all members to connect, collaborate, learn, and grow together.

Small businesses comprise 99% of all NH businesses.

97% of New Hampshire’s small businesses have 19 or fewer employees.

79% are owner-operated entities without any additional employees.*

The Granite State is also home to nearly 6,000 self-employed artists.**

Makerspaces encourage creativity and innovation.

Whether you’re a professional artist or are new to the art of making, makerspaces provide an opportunity to experiment, explore, and create. By engaging in a culture of making, members exercise their creativity in a social environment. Research shows that creative and social engagement are key contributors to sound mental health and can help sustain mental acuity and quality of life as we age.

Makerspaces are a unique resource for New Hampshire residents.

Makerspaces engage homeowners and hobbyists, providing resources that enable makers to undertake home improvement projects without having to purchase expensive equipment and tools, and encourage NH residents to reduce waste by repairing rather than disposing of household items.
